Messiah House and Politics

Messiah House logo_Icon_Blue.png

There is nothing more polarizing in our society than the current political climate in our country, and rightfully so, most Americans on either side of the aisle are concerned with various issues that they strongly feel are essential to the country's future well-being.

Politics, lawmaking, elections, and government are essential facets of our lives as American citizens. It is the Lord's will for His people to be governed by righteous and holy judges who protect religious liberty and justice for the widow, orphan, and foreigner living among us (Lev 19:34). No matter the political affiliation, every believer, whether politically motivated or not must confess that God has used religious liberty, the right to vote, and other freedoms we are privileged to have in America, to advance His Kingdom around the world; thus it can also be determined that those freedoms are essential. So, we encourage every citizen to use their freedom to vote the way the Lord leads; most are not given such liberty.

The Lord has called Messiah House in these last days to stand as a house of prayer, to fast, watch, pray, and seek Him because He has placed a belief inside us that all His promises are true.

The one promise we hold on to is found in the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14:

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land."

We believe that Yeshua is the only answer for this dying world, and although our liberty as American citizens is essential, the most important thing we must do in these trying times is pray; but not only to pray, we must also humble ourselves, and this is what we ask all of our community to do throughout this political turbulence; humble yourself by covering any political disagreement with a fellow believer with love. We must remember it is satan who desires to divide, steal, kill, destroy, and cause disorder; all Yeshua asks us to do is stay humble, pray and seek His face.

For this reason, rather than endorsing any political candidate, at Messiah House, we have decided to give a biblical response to some of the significant issues we are seeing in the world today. For some, this may not be the stand they were looking for us to make, but this is the exact stand that the Lord requires. He was a cloud of smoke and a pillar of fire for the children of Israel in the wilderness, He was the power that brought down the walls of Jericho, and He was the one who alone defeated sin and death; He has always been enough. For some, the cries for another King and savior will be their overwhelming passion, but we encourage our community to trust in the Lord and vote the way He leads but remember, He is our hope and future.

Trust, as the Lord leads people to review our response to some of the significant issues we face today, the Lord will lead every believer to vote accordingly.

How to pray for our government:

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1–4)
President (via: CRU.org):

King of the Earth, we pray for our President. Please give him divine wisdom to lead this country. We pray that he would serve and revere You in his words and actions. We humbly ask that You grant him grace to know how to unify our country.

We are facing immense challenges regarding public health, a pandemic, financial hardship, economic shutdowns, racial tensions, devastation from violence and riots in the streets, and great political division among many other things. Our President faces fierce challenges and opportunities on the domestic and international fronts. Please grant our President divine wisdom to navigate our country through the uncertain path that lies ahead.

Vice-President and Counselors  (via: CRU.org):

We lift up the Vice President, cabinet, and advisors to the President. The Bible and history are full of examples of counsel to the king resulting in laws and decisions leading the entire nation toward peace and prosperity or toward division, destruction, and even collapse.

We pray that You would give the President wisdom to surround himself with counselors who have our country’s best interest at heart. Grant them wisdom to advise the President in the course of action he should take. We pray that You would surround our President with sound, wise counsel to direct him as he leads our nation.

The Supreme Court (Via: CRU.org):

Father, we are grateful to be able to call You that. To know that through Jesus, we have been brought into Your family. Thank You that our earthly families, as imperfect as they are, are a reflection of the eternal family for which You are our forever Father. Forgive us Lord, for not being better pictures of what the family is intended to be. Help us Lord to live out our lives in families with godliness, love, purity, and truth.

This broken world has affected all of us in so many damaging ways. We thank You for accepting us in our brokenness through Jesus, and for Your commitment to bringing us to spiritual and emotional health and wholeness. Forgive us as your people when we have gone on the offensive against those caught up in any sexual sin. Teach us how to live as You lived as You walked among us, Lord Jesus. We want to love as You loved and speak truth as You spoke truth.

From a place of humility before You, we plead with You Lord, to intervene to preserve Your intent regarding marriage. From the High Court of Heaven, would you step down into the Supreme Court of the United States to bring about Your will and purposes regarding the family? Give that wisdom which only You can give. Pour out righteousness upon our land. According to the word of the prophet Isaiah, would You restore our judges that they might rule according to Your purposes and desires? We ask this, for your honor and glory, in the majestic name of Jesus. Amen!

The Legislative Branch (Via: CRU.org):

Prince of Peace, we pray for the Senate and Houses of Representatives as they make laws to govern our land and delegate our nation’s resources. Grant them wisdom to allocate our resources wisely. Please raise up people who will make laws to protect our freedoms so that we can live peaceful, quiet lives in godliness and dignity.

As with the general political climate throughout the nation, members of Congress are fiercely divided into tribal political parties unwilling to work together and compromise for the good of the nation. We pray against this divisiveness that plagues our land. We humbly plead that, by your miraculous power, the members of Congress would put their agendas aside to work together in humility to serve for the good of our nation as our nation’s leaders.

The Judicial Branch (Via: CRU.org):

Lord Jesus, You are the Righteous Judge who will judge the nations. We lift up our Supreme Court. We pray that they would judge rightly before you and uphold what is true. We pray for balanced judgment that upholds our Constitution. Grant them divine wisdom to decipher what is right.

We pray for the judges across our land from the local level to the high courts. Help them to judge wisely and fairly. Please give them wisdom and discernment to balance justice and mercy. Raise up righteous judges who fear You and will judge in accordance with the laws of the land. Give them wisdom during these divisive times to do what is right.

State and Local Leaders (Via: CRU.org):

Father God, we pray for our governors and our state and local officials. Grant them grace to face their unique challenges regarding secure voting measures, political unrest, COVID restrictions, financial crisis, law enforcement, racial division and so on. Please give them insight into the needs of their communities and discernment to make decisions to lead their states and communities well.

The Election (Via: CRU.org):

Heavenly Father, Creator of the heavens and earth, we are confident that You sovereignly place every leader and that You have marked the days for which You use them for Your purposes. By Your mighty hand we pray that You would be merciful to our nation to work in the hearts of those to whom You give authority. We pray for peace. We pray for unity. But whether in conflict or unity we are confident that You are implementing Your plan and accomplishing Your will.

King of Kings, you appoint the nation’s leaders in Congress and at the state and local levels. We pray for our leaders to protect our freedom so that we might live out our faith freely without fear.

We pray for the salvation of all of our nation’s leaders that they may know You. Place people in power who revere You and will serve You for the good of their communities.

What does God think?

A

Abortion

We believe abortion is the shedding of innocent life; it is the preying upon the most vulnerable. We also acknowledge that young mothers are put through traumatic situations like rape, incest, and other horrific occurrences. However, we believe that the one who should pay for the crime is not the child but the one who committed the crime. We also believe adoption, foster care, and other assistance programs should be more readily available to these young mothers to encourage them to carry their children to full term.

Ultimately, the mothers are also victims in this situation, who are told that having an abortion will ease the burden but are never told of the more profound burden they now have to carry for the rest of their lives. The mothers in these situations need prayer, deliverance, and inner healing; Yeshua is offering salvation to them and a chance to one day be reunited with their child if they believe and confess Him as Lord.

B

The Border

Isaiah 60:18
“Violence will not be heard again in your land,
Nor devastation or destruction within your borders;
But you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise.

From the above verse, it is evident that a strong border is a blessing from the Lord; it is not a negative thing to want secure borders and an efficient pathway to entry and citizenship for those who desire.

A strong border is a promise from the Lord for a people who will turn to Him in true repentance. We encourage anyone reading this to join our community in prayer gatherings as Heaven rejoices over one more soul who answers the call to pray in revival!

C

Climate Change

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease. Genesis 8:22

From scripture, we have a clear promise that we will have the seasons, seed time, and harvest as long as the earth remains.

However, we have also been given dominion over the earth, and this responsibility must be taken seriously. With the same heart of compassion that God warned His people not to eat the blood of animals, for life is in the blood, in the same way, we must have compassion on the earth. For this reason, we encourage believers to act responsibly, plant, grow, nurture, and care with what we have been given dominion.

If you are skeptical of the entire climate change philosophy, but your unbelieving neighbor is not, suppose you are given the opportunity to recycle or act in a way that your neighbor deems eco-responsible if it does not go against your convictions to oblige your neighbor. Still, the act will open up an opportunity for you to share the gospel, then do what is wise.

Some people are very adamant on this issue, and others consider it nothing but a big hoax; no matter your standing, we encourage you to treat your neighbors with love, and if your behavior can make them drop their guard and open a door for you to share your faith, then that is the way to go.

G

Government Assistance - Medicare, Student Loans, Maternity Leave, Child Care, Food Stamps, Healthcare, etc.

Government assistance is a hot-button issue for many; some on one side are very vocal about how these programs are needed to keep people off the streets, food on the table, healthy, and nourished.

Others believe that the more the government encroaches into being the one we rely upon for assistance, they would say that history has proven that big-government oversteps their influence to the point of dictatorship and control 100% of the time.

No matter your take, it is essential to note what we at least agree upon; all hungry people should be given food, all homeless people should be given a roof over their heads, and everyone should have access to a doctor or medical professional. How we get to that point is up for debate; however, everyone needs to consider what a solution may be and individually take steps to assist in making that happen.

No Bible verses speak on government handouts. However, the Bible does tell us to love our neighbor, so no matter your opinion on this issue, we encourage you to help find an alternative.

I

Immigration

Regardless of how one feels about the immigration laws and border, as believers, we have a clear commandment from the Lord to treat ALL foreigners with respect and dignity. As individual believers, we are called to love our neighbor, but a special emphasis is placed upon how we treat the foreigner (see verses below); we are not to mistreat, defraud, oppress, or abuse a foreigner; otherwise, we will incur the judgment of the Lord.

Note: we at Messiah House are incredibly thankful for the immigrants that live alongside us in our community, most of whom hold a standard of family values, manhood, religion, and respect that is desperately needed in our country.

I

Israel

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. Psalm 122:6

We are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, so we pray for her protection from all surrounding enemies, spiritual attacks, and depravity. We also pray for the salvation and safety of innocent Palestinians, Iranians, Syrians, etc.

Our love and prayers for the nation of Israel must not close our eyes to the hardships and persecution endured by Messianic believers in the land and Christian believers at the hands of the orthodox religious leadership. We believe we can pray for Israel and love her deeply while also praying that God will raise up leaders in America and Israel who will bring this injustice to an end.

Nonetheless, we continue to pray for Israel's salvation, and we must be very weary about our country ever being a part of any agreement that separates God's land from the Jewish people.

M

Marriage

God instituted marriage between one man and one woman; throughout history, man has tried to pervert this union. However, marriage remains an institution established by the Lord, and any other form of marriage is illegitimate before God.

It is critical to stand your ground on this issue, for as we have witnessed, the destruction of marriage is the beginning of moral depravity for a society.

Genesis 2:18, Matthew 19:4–6, Hebrews 13:4, Genesis 2:23–24

R

Racism

Judging a person based on the color of their skin is evil and ignorant, but unfortunately, it is a curse that plagues the history of the United States of America.

When a bystander encounters racism, one must bring correction, education, and justice.

It is also ignorant for someone to deny the plight of their brother or sister when they never dealt with the same circumstances. We must come to a place where we sympathize with our brothers and sisters and not try to make this kindness and understanding into a partisan political declaration.

In our nation's history, both sides have tried to use the horrors of racism for their political benefit; it is our responsibility to deal with it personally, brother to brother, sister to sister, in love, with a tender heart.

Acts 10:34-35, James 2: 8-9, Galationa 3:28, John 7:24, John 13:34, Deuteronomy 10:17-35

S

Sexual Identity and Orientation

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. Genesis 1:27

God created man and woman to subdue and fill the earth; they were designed to complement each other and replicate the relationship of the Bride and Messiah.

Satan's ultimate goal is to bring confusion and disorder to this union, stop family lines, and mock creation.

Many believe they were born with these urges; for as long as they can remember, they have thought and felt a certain way. People can be born into generational curses, soul ties, and strongholds, and that is why people who claim to be born with these urges may be expressing a genuine belief.

Thankfully there is freedom and deliverance offered in the blood of Yeshua; please reach out to a member of our leadership team if you find yourself under this oppression.
